Burkina: 200,000 volunteer reservists recruited each year, here's what they will serve for

Burkina Faso plans to recruit 200,000 national volunteer reservists annually for five years, with the first call for applications set for September 25, 2026. These volunteers will respond to health emergencies, natural disasters, or humanitarian crises, while also supporting actions in hygiene, sanitation, and social cohesion. In 2025, the program had already mobilized 52,560 volunteers, and for 2026, it plans 15,000 volunteers for the Faso Mêbo operation and 27,000 for road maintenance.
