Burkina Faso Customs Seize 2,310 Sticks of Dynamite and 7,500 Detonators

Burkina Faso’s General Directorate of Customs announced on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the seizure of 2,310 sticks of dynamite hidden in a transit truck and 7,500 detonators carried on a passenger bus. The two consignments were intercepted in separate operations. Customs Director General Dr. Yves Kafando described the materials as highly harmful and said they threatened the population, the environment and wildlife. Their origin, destination and the identities of anyone involved remain unknown, and no verified information links the explosives to armed groups.
