Burkina Faso Protects Local Industries with New Import Decree – La Nouvelle Tribune

The Burkina Faso Council of Ministers, meeting in Ouagadougou on October 8, 2026, adopted a decree updating the list of products subject to special import or export authorizations to protect local manufacturers. The products include detergents, soaps, bleach, chalk, and tomato concentrates, aiming to prevent imported products from flooding the market and to safeguard the profitability of local investments. Since 2022, 23 production units have been established with an investment of 26 billion FCFA, supported by the government, and the decree seeks to facilitate the sale of domestic production in the local market.
