Burkina Faso opened its first gold refinery, named Raffinor BF, on September 28, 2026, in Ouagadougou, with a capacity of 400 kg per day. The project started in November 2023 and includes a laboratory, a foundry, storage space, a jewelry section, and a headquarters for SONASP. This facility enables the country to better control its gold resources, with refined gold reaching 99.99% purity, reducing the need to send gold abroad for refining.
