Burundi has condemned the harassment of its nationals in Kenya and demanded their protection following a directive by President William Ruto to crack down on undocumented foreigners. Burundi's Foreign Minister Édouard Bizimana stated that the Kenyan government is responsible for the safety of Burundians living in Kenya. As a result, many Burundians queued at their embassy in Nairobi for emergency travel documents to return home.
