Burundi: WFP Seeks Funds for Congolese Refugees

On July 24, the World Food Programme (WFP) in Burundi announced it might have to cease food aid to Congolese refugees due to lack of funds. The aid was temporarily extended thanks to contributions from donors and the Burundian government, but the WFP now requires around 30 million dollars to sustain food assistance until June 2027. Refugees currently receive only 12 dollars per month, which they find inadequate.
