Abia wins eight gold medals to finish top as South-East Weightlifting Championship ends

The South-East Zonal Weightlifting Championship ended in Umuahia, with host Abia State winning 8 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medals to top the medal table. Divine Emmanuel from Abia won gold in the 55kg category with a 155kg lift. Abia's Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, praised the athletes' competitive spirit and Governor Alex Otti for hosting and providing modern equipment. Bernard Ezema of the National Sports Commission noted the zone's efforts to reclaim its sporting prominence and promote peace among youth.
