At the trial over journalist Martinez Zogo’s murder, Colonel Ayissi Nanga Parfait, the 36th witness, denounced pressure intended to dissuade him from testifying and expressed concern for his safety. He accused the Secretary of State for Defence of having him arrested and alleged that Martin Savom attempted to have him killed in Ebolowa. The allegations remain for the court to examine.

DRC: C64 renews call for political de-escalation and independent investigations into violence at opposition demonstrations

Meeting in Rome on October 26 and 27, 2026, the C64 Coalition called for an end to arbitrary arrests, intimidation and restrictions on peaceful political activity, as well as the return of political exiles. The opposition coalition, whose members include Martin Fayulu, Delly Sesanga, Augustin Matata Ponyo, Jean-Marc Kabund-a-Kabund and Moïse Katumbi, called for Marley Vuvu, Prince Epenge and Stéphane Shiso to be released. It urged independent, potentially international, investigations into violence at demonstrations on June 12 and September 15, 2026, and the assassination of Manassé Lomboto. C64 also demanded the dissolution of the “Forces du progrès” militia and said the war in eastern DRC does not justify suppressing public freedoms.
