Cameroon - Louis Din Dika Akwa IV: Royal Coronation Under High Tension in Douala

Louis Din Dika Akwa IV, aged 42, was crowned king of the Bonambela in Douala on October 10, 2026, succeeding his father Charles David Din Akwa III, who died in 2020. The ceremony took place on the banks of the Wouri River and drew over 3,500 attendees, but was marred by disputes over the legitimacy of the coronation. The community considers this a new chapter, yet the question of who has the right to crown a king remains unresolved. The event officially recognizes him as the king after serving as chief superior for three years.
