Cameroon - Tchiroma from exile: « I am the elected president »

One year after the 2025 presidential election, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, in exile in Gambia since November 2025, continues to claim victory and refuses to give up his demands for a transfer of power. He issued a statement from Banjul on October 12, 2026, asserting that his victory is certain and imminent. The 2025 election was won by Paul Biya with 53.66% of the votes, but Tchiroma maintains his view of the election results. Cameroon is still awaiting the formation of a government and a vice-president.
