Cameroonians dead in Ukraine: Yaoundé confirms 16 deaths, without public approach to Moscow

On April 6, 2026, the Cameroonian Ministry of External Relations confirmed the death of sixteen nationals engaged as contract soldiers in the Russian army in Ukraine. The families of the victims are invited to contact the Directorate of Cameroonians Abroad. No public approach has been made to Moscow to demand the cessation of recruitments or to organize the repatriation of bodies, unlike other African countries that have taken similar measures.
