CAN disowns Archbishop Chianson and denies involvement in 2027 political mobilisation

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) disowned Archbishop Chivir Chianson, saying he is not its general secretary and has no authority to speak on its behalf. In a statement signed by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN denied any institutional connection with Chianson’s group and said it had not authorised political mobilisation for a candidate ahead of the 2027 elections. The association reaffirmed its political neutrality and urged Christians, the public and media outlets, including TVC News, to verify the affiliations of people presented as its representatives. It warned that it would take steps to protect its name and identity from unauthorised use.
