Cape Flats unconvinced by SANDF deployment

Communities on the Cape Flats welcomed the deployment of the South African National Defence Force in Tafelsig to assist the police in tackling crime, but mixed feelings remain about its effectiveness. Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili stated that Operation Prosper, which brings together the SAPS, SANDF, and the City of Cape Town, is fully prepared. However, Michael Jacobs, chairperson of the Mitchells Plain Residents United Association, expressed concerns about ongoing gang shootings and killings despite the army's presence.
