Cape Town N2 wall: 94% of consultation respondents oppose R115m proposal
Of the 17,265 people who answered a voluntary consultation about a proposed wall along Cape Town’s N2, 16,210 opposed it, 746 supported it and 309 were unsure. The R115 million proposal was assessed in a report compiled by Candice Leigh King, though the consultation findings are not representative of Cape Town’s population as a whole. The leading spending priorities were education, youth development and skills (83.8%), job creation and small-business support (78.9%), and housing and infrastructure (71.8%). Only 2.4% selected the wall as a priority, while 12.2% chose alternative N2 safety infrastructure, including a bridge.
