Cape Town voters highlight housing and youth jobs in 2026 local elections

Cape Town residents voted in the 2026 local elections on Wednesday, including in Pinelands and Khayelitsha, where voters said they hoped for better youth employment prospects and progress on housing. Hundreds of people were reported at polling stations in Pinelands, while scores queued at the Ark Educate Centre in Khayelitsha’s eNkanini informal settlement. In Nyanga, an estimated 200 or more voters were held up by a system glitch, while offline scanning systems reportedly stalled queues in Kuils River.
