Captain Ibrahim Traoré says Burkina Faso must 'forget' about democracy

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the military ruler of Burkina Faso, stated that democracy 'kills' and that the country must forget about it. In an interview, he suggested that most Africans do not desire this system and announced an extension of military rule for another five years, despite an initial promise to restore democracy by July 2024. Traoré also banned all political parties and suppressed dissent while criticizing Western influence.
