Carrick stays on as Manchester United manager for crucial Chelsea match

Michael Carrick remains Manchester United manager and led training at Carrington ahead of Saturday’s trip to Chelsea. His future was in serious doubt after a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth extended United’s winless run to eight matches in all competitions. United are 16th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone. Club officials discussed Carrick’s position on Monday but announced no decision; after the defeat, fans applauded Carrick and booed the players.
