CAS ruling: The possible outcomes are troubling for CAF and Morocco

CAF’s appeals jury declared Senegal to have forfeited the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, played in Rabat on January 18, and awarded Morocco a 3–0 administrative victory, two months after Senegal had won on the field, 1–0 after extra time. The Senegalese Football Federation has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, whose ruling is expected at the end of November 2026. If CAS restores the sporting result, CAF could face pressure to explain its regulations and disciplinary procedures, while Morocco would lose the title awarded administratively. No automatic financial penalty against Morocco has been established.
