« Cascade of Violations »: UN Experts Denounce US Deportations

Twenty UN experts condemned the US deportation program to third countries, stating it causes a cascade of human rights violations, including torture, arbitrary detention, forced disappearances, and family separations. Over 25,000 people have been expelled under secret agreements with 35 countries, often in conflict zones or unable to protect migrants. These expulsions target asylum seekers and migrants at various stages of their procedures, outside democratic oversight. The experts warned the involved governments, including Central African Republic, Honduras, Libya, and South Sudan.
