CBK Reveals 35 Banks Violated Banking Rules in 2025

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) revealed that 35 out of 38 commercial banks in the country violated banking rules in 2025, a significant increase from 2024 when 11 banks were cited. The breaches were mainly linked to the implementation of the Risk-Based Credit Pricing Model (RBCPM) and violations of the single obligor limit and the minimum capital requirement of Ksh3 billion. As a result, 33 banks faced financial penalties.
