CBN bags NES Award for economic reforms

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) received the Nigerian Economic Society’s (NES) Distinguished Organisation Award for its institutional reforms and contributions to Nigeria's macroeconomic stability. The award was presented at the 67th Annual Conference of the NES held in Abuja from September 7 to 10, 2026. Dr. Victor Oboh, Director of the Monetary Policy Department, accepted the award on behalf of CBN Governor Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, who emphasized the bank's commitment to excellence and national development.

Abia debunks N50,000 akara tax claim

The Abia State Government has debunked reports that akara sellers and other petty traders are being forced to pay a N50,000 tax, calling the claim misinformation. During a press briefing, Information Commissioner Prince Okey Kanu announced the designation of historical and natural sites as State Monuments, including the National War Museum and Ulochukwu Cave.
