CBN urges Kano traders, residents to handle naira notes properly

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has launched an awareness campaign in Kano markets, urging traders and residents to handle naira notes carefully to reduce costs associated with replacing damaged or dirty currency. Ibrahim Yahya, a representative of the CBN, emphasized that the naira symbolizes national sovereignty and should be treated with respect, as mishandling leads to significant expenses for replacement. The campaign targets key markets such as Galadima, Sabon Gari, Abattoir, Yankaba, Tarauni, Yan Lemo, and Dawanau, with plans to expand to other markets in the state. The initiative aims to extend the lifespan of the currency by engaging directly with traders and the public.
