Cells that cheat Death: New clue to why some cancers return

Researchers at Israel's Weizmann Institute have uncovered a cellular mechanism that may explain why some cancers return after treatment. They identified DARE cells that initiate programmed cell death but survive to aid in tissue regeneration. These cells managed to repair nearly half of the damaged tissue within 48 hours, raising questions about their role in cancer cells' resistance to treatment.
