CEMAC: banks' liquidity demand jumps to 535.5 billion after BEAC easing

During the weekly liquidity injection operation on July 14, 2026, commercial banks in the CEMAC region demanded 535.5 billion FCFA, exceeding the BEAC's proposed envelope of 500 billion FCFA. The central bank left 35.5 billion in unmet demand. This 33.9% increase over three weeks coincides with the monetary policy easing decided on June 29, 2026 by the BEAC Monetary Policy Committee.
