From November 1, 2026, coins from the BEAC series issued in 1958, 1959, 1971, 1976 and 1985 will no longer be accepted for transactions in the CEMAC region. They can be exchanged free of charge for coins from the 2006 or 2024 series until October 31, 2027, at banks, microfinance institutions and BEAC offices. BEAC Governor Yvon Sana Bangui set out the timetable in a notice published on October 9, 2026; the first exchange period runs from November 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027.
