Central African Republic: Army announces major blow to anti-balaka with death of Marcel Ndalé

The Central African Republic’s Defense Ministry says the army killed Marcel Ndalé in an operation on November 5, 2026, in Nana-Mambéré prefecture. His brother, Adamou Ndalé, and seven other men were reportedly killed as well, bringing the death toll to nine. Authorities say Marcel Ndalé, whose birth name was Gbokaho Minang Sylvain, acted alongside Noureddine Adam, leader of the Popular Front for the Renaissance of the Central African Republic, who is under UN sanctions. Active around Bouar, Ndalé founded a self-defense group in 2006 and became an anti-balaka commander after 2013.
