Cervical cancer deaths fall to zero in young women given vaccine

A study published in The Lancet shows that cervical cancer deaths have plummeted among young women vaccinated against HPV in England. Between 2020 and 2024, no deaths were recorded in women aged 20-24, compared to an expected 23 without vaccination. Researchers estimate about 200 lives have been saved since the vaccination program began in 2008. Lead researcher Prof Peter Sasieni from Queen Mary University of London called the finding 'incredible'.
