More than 5,300 migrants who remained in Ceuta after the influx in July have voluntarily returned to Morocco since August 10, according to the Spanish government. Minister Ángel Víctor Torres stated that 90 migrants have withdrawn their requests for international protection and nearly 1,000 people are in the process of being registered for their return. This return comes as the government faces criticism over the slow pace of deportations.
