Chad will abolish entry visas for all Africans starting January 1, 2027. The announcement was made by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno at the opening of the African Water Forum on July 15, 2026 in N'Djamena. The measure aims to promote free movement of people across the continent and to facilitate trade and investments within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
