Chad: Municipal police crack down on hookahs in four districts of N'Djamena

On the mayor Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye’s instructions, N’Djamena municipal police carried out an operation against hookah use on Monday in the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th districts. Officers seized a large quantity of hookahs and related accessories, but the municipality did not give an exact count. The city says it aims to curb hookah use, particularly among young people, citing addiction and respiratory and cardiovascular health risks. The operation follows a 6th-district raid on October 8, when hookahs and adulterated alcoholic drinks were seized.
