Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, has vowed to scrap bulletproof SUVs, charter flights and other luxury perks for public officials if elected. He says public funds spent on such benefits could instead support education, healthcare and infrastructure as families face inflation and declining social services. Adebayo cited more than $300 million spent by 33 states on governors’ offices, government houses and executive travel in six months in mid-2026, as well as nearly N1 trillion regularly earmarked for luxury vehicles and executive renovations.
