Chaos as Suspected Goons Storm ODM Rally in Nairobi, Forcing Leaders to Flee

An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi descended into chaos on October 31 after suspected goons stormed the main dais, sending party leaders and supporters fleeing. The event marked the end of the first anniversary of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s death; confrontations reportedly began when aspirants and their security personnel tried to access the dais. ODM chair Gladys Wanga, Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati, Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi and Hassan Joho, and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja attended. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured or arrested, and neither ODM nor Nairobi regional police had issued a statement.

During the tour, Charles has spoken of past suffering in the Bahamas and visited a site in Guyana associated with a slave rebellion.

Ortom hits back at former envoy Tarzoor and defends his governance record

Ortom said Tarzoor misrepresented his remarks about Governor Hyacinth Alia and questioned his record as Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and as Nigeria’s ambassador to Namibia. Defending his own administration, Ortom cited the 2017 law prohibiting open grazing, the establishment of the Benue State Livestock Guards and support for Community Volunteer Guards. He also pointed to attacks on farming communities and began listing his education achievements, including more than 1,000 primary schools.
