China bars Philippines defence chief as South China Sea spat sails onwards

China has barred Philippine Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro and his family from entering the country, including Hong Kong and Macau, citing his comments about Beijing's South China Sea claims. The ban also prohibits any transactions or cooperation with him. Teodoro says he has no plans to travel to China anyway and criticized the Chinese government. The move escalates long-standing tensions over the South China Sea.
