China: Security and trade at the centre of Oligui Nguema's visit

During a state visit to China, Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema was welcomed on Friday by his counterpart Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two leaders agreed to elevate relations between Libreville and Beijing to a “community of shared future in the new era.” They also signed several agreements covering security, trade and supply chains. Oligui Nguema called for more Chinese investment in Gabon, while Xi Jinping highlighted tariff exemptions and preferential access for African agricultural products to the Chinese market.
