China’s Xi Jinping arrives in North Korea on rare state visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Pyongyang for a rare state visit, welcomed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his wife with a 21-gun salute and cheering crowds. The two-day trip, his first to North Korea in seven years, includes a summit. Xi wrote in an editorial that bilateral relations are at a "new historical starting point". China accounts for up to 95% of North Korea's trade, per a 2022 estimate.
