Chinese state TV continues Real Madrid blackout after Mbappe-Mao meme row

Neither of CCTV’s two sports channels broadcast Sunday’s La Liga match between Real Madrid and Racing Santander, which Madrid won 3-0. The blackout follows a controversy over a viral video from April in which Kylian Mbappe called Mao Zedong a “dictator.” Mbappe, Real Madrid and La Liga have apologized, and China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it took the player’s apology seriously. The match also did not appear on Migu, China Mobile’s streaming service, although Barcelona’s game was shown on Saturday.
