Cholera: With the Return of the Rains, MSF Fears Water Source Contamination Risks in Popokabaka

In Popokabaka, Kwango Province, DRC, MSF warns of increased water source contamination risks with the rainy season approaching, as the cholera epidemic continues since June 2026. A report from October 7 states there have been 345 suspected cases and 21 deaths across 26 health areas, with a lethality rate of 6.1%. Most of the population has limited access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities, heightening the risk of cholera transmission through contaminated water ingestion.
