Chris Brown given suspended sentence for nightclub assault

American singer Chris Brown was sentenced Monday to eight months in prison, suspended, for hitting music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle at London’s Tape nightclub in February 2023. Video shown in court depicted Brown striking Diaw twice in the head. Judge Tony Baumgartner said repeatedly using a glass bottle in that way was clearly dangerous, but ruled out an immediate prison term, citing Brown’s guilty plea and mitigating factors, including stable employment and charitable work.
