CIMDC 2026: Beugré Mambé calls for concessional financing to develop SOTRA

At the opening of the International Conference on Sustainable Mobility and Climate in Abidjan on October 20, Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé called for concessional financing to develop SOTRA. The company now serves several inland cities, including Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, Korhogo and San Pedro. In Greater Abidjan, it operated 139 routes and 2,050 buses in 2024, carrying 295.4 million passengers. The state handed SOTRA 200 new buses in July 2025, and further investment is needed to expand the network.

NBTI announces $600m pipeline for Nigerian innovation

The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) announced a financing pipeline exceeding $600 million after 298 Nigerian innovators took part in the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026 in London. A high-level African Union Commission mission is in Lomé through October 22, 2026, to turn the Kampala Declaration’s commitments into national actions under the 2026–2031 CAADP framework. Talks between Togolese officials and AU representatives focus on agricultural productivity, food security, climate resilience and sustainable management of natural resources. The government plans to draw on ProMAT, whose cumulative support from the West African Development Bank reached 60 billion CFA francs after an additional 40 billion was approved in June 2026. Adopted in January 2025, the Kampala Declaration targets a 45% increase in Africa’s agrifood production, a tripling of intra-African agricultural trade and a halving of post-harvest losses by 2035.
