The civil society of Uvira in South Kivu reports an increase in murders in the city, including the killing of a 70-year-old woman on September 3 and Kiza Babatana on October 1. Kelvin Bwija, its president, urges local authorities and security forces to strengthen protection for residents and their property, and calls for measures to combat crime. Police commissioner Lwimbo Handokya states that measures are being taken to apprehend the criminals.
