Civil society praises the surrender of dozens of fighters to FARDC in Kivu

On October 12, Kelvin Bwijа of the Congolese Civil Society praised the surrender of over 80 fighters from armed groups in North and South Kivu over the past three months. These surrenders involve members of AFC/M23, Twiraneho, Red Tabara, and their allies, amid ongoing military operations by FARDC. Many fighters cited harsh conditions within their groups as reasons for laying down arms, with surrenders reported in August, September, and October at locations including Abala, Uvira, Fizi, Mukoko, Mulima, Katogota, Point Zero, Kabadja, and Nyaruhinga.
