Coastal Communities Fault Diversion of Lagos-Calabar Road

Warri Reclamation Thrust and the Itsekiri National Youths Council oppose the diversion of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road inland through Edo State after Lagos and Ogun. Tsaye Mene says the change bypasses oil-producing Itsekiri, Ilaje and Ijaw communities in Ondo, Delta and Bayelsa, despite their resources helping fund the project. He urged President Bola Tinubu to restore the original coastal route from Araromi to the Nembe area, warning that the diversion could worsen poverty, insecurity and feelings of exclusion.
