Cocoa sector: Financing access for cooperatives a key concern for IDH and CCC

The Conseil du Café-Cacao and the IDH sustainable trade initiative held a workshop in Abidjan on October 20, 2026, on financing access for Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa cooperatives. Essential to cocoa collection and marketing, cooperatives remain among the sector’s least-funded actors, limiting their ability to support producers. IDH country director Stéphanie Kadio called for financing to be structured around cooperatives’ operational needs. The workshop is intended to bring together government, producer organizations and financial institutions to develop a shared roadmap and lasting solutions.
