Cocoa Transformation: A New Chocolate Factory of Nearly One Billion FCFA Announced in Cameroon in 2026

A new chocolate factory called Chocolat Rouge, built by Frenchman Olivier Bordais in Nkol Melen near Obala, will be operational in January 2026. It plans to ship its first premium chocolate bars by February 2026 but faces administrative delays related to compliance with the European Union’s deforestation regulation, effective from January 1, 2026. The project, costing around 1.5 million euros, aims to promote a short and sustainable supply chain in Cameroon’s cocoa sector.
