Colombia extradites leader of armed group to US in shift towards Washington

Colombia's government extradited Geovany Andres Rojas, accused of leading a group linked to the former FARC rebel organization, to the United States. President Abelardo de la Espriella stated that this move signifies a shift in security policy, moving away from his predecessor Gustavo Petro's approach of using Rojas as a mediator. Rojas, known as 'the Spider', was flown to California and placed in federal custody. De la Espriella criticized the previous protection of Rojas, emphasizing that peace cannot be built by protecting narco-terrorists.
