Sudden deaths in Kenya, often reported among young professionals and seemingly healthy students, are raising growing concerns. According to the Vital Statistics report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, non-communicable diseases accounted for 61.7% of all deaths in 2023, up from 52.4% the previous year. Cardiologists note that these deaths often occur without known medical histories, with direct causes including heart attacks and strokes, fueled by hypertension and diabetes.
