Confejes announces women’s agri-digital entrepreneurship fair in Yaoundé for October 21–23, 2026

The Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of the Francophonie (Confejes), in partnership with the Cameroonian government, will hold a women’s agri-digital entrepreneurship fair in Yaoundé from October 21 to 23, 2026. It will bring together 100 young Cameroonian entrepreneurs in agriculture and digital industries, selected through an application process, alongside other young entrepreneurs from the Francophone world. Training will cover agricultural product processing, quality, packaging, access to finance and accounting, with presentations on government support programs for young entrepreneurs. The fair will also feature business meetings and an exhibition of participants’ products.

Burnham defends Jackdaw decision as Badenoch urges PM to overturn ban on new oil and gas licences

The UK government has approved production from the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea, operated by Adura, a joint venture between Shell and Equinor. Production could begin by the end of the month; Adura says the field could supply about 6% of UK gas production, enough for 1.4 million homes, though it will not lower bills this winter. Ministers say the project will support gas supplies, hundreds of jobs and £2.9bn for the economy, while environmental campaigners dispute its climate and energy-security benefits. Kemi Badenoch called for the ban on new oil and gas licences to be repealed, while Andy Burnham criticised her party’s handling of the original decision; the government also announced a £2bn fund for renewable and low-carbon projects.

ARSP: In 100 days, Ted Beleshayi cuts certificate processing time from six months to 15 days

After his first 100 days leading the ARSP, Ted Beleshayi Kasanda said digitization has reduced the average time to obtain the certificate required to bid for subcontracting contracts to 10–15 days, from more than six months. The agency has also issued injunctions affecting more than 1,000 companies following inspections of 14 major mining groups and is working with the ARPTC to require telecom operators to post tenders on its platform. Beleshayi said the ARSP and ARMP are drafting rules for the local-content law, with the ARMP covering the public sector and the ARSP the private sector. He also plans to re-energize staff and expand the agency’s presence in the provinces.
