Conflict between NUC, professional bodies impose costs on universities, students – Ogundipe

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Chairman of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, stated that conflicts between the NUC and professional regulatory bodies are causing significant costs to Nigerian universities and students. Speaking at Osun State University's 16th convocation, he emphasized that these bodies operate under different laws, leading to complex and contentious relationships. Ogundipe called for improved regulation with clear responsibilities to ensure quality assurance in Nigeria's higher education system.
