The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo shows signs of slowing in some areas, with 7,258 confirmed cases and 3,510 deaths since the outbreak was declared on May 15. Health Minister Samuel Kamba stated that transmission has decreased since mid-August, although the WHO warns it is too early to declare that the epidemic has peaked. North Kivu province continues to see a sharp rise in cases, accounting for about 45% of new cases reported last week.
