Congress moves to block US assistance to Nigeria over FG's failure to protect citizens

The United States House of Representatives has approved an amendment to withhold 100% of US assistance to Nigeria, up from 50%, until the Nigerian government takes effective steps to address violence and protect its citizens. Steube argued that the Nigerian government has failed to meet its basic obligation to protect citizens, particularly Christians and religious minorities facing violence and terrorism. He called it absurd to reward a government that fails to confront terrorism and uphold religious freedom.
